Have you ever had a feeling about something and you were totally wrong? Or ever got really angry about something and actually you had the wrong end of the stick?
So often I think we let our feelings dictate to us what the truth is. What I mean by that is if something doesn't feel right then we dismiss it, or if something makes us uncomfortable we don't think it is true. We live in a world that says if something feels right for you then it is right for you, but if it doesn't feel right for me then it is wrong for me. But our feelings are not the truth. Imagine if I said it feels right for me to jump off a cliff, and it feels as if I will be alright and live so I am going to do it. Would that actually change the outcome? The answer is obviously no and here in is a problem. The truth is not decided by how we feel, or what we think is right, the truth is the truth no matter what else goes on.
The bible says that the heart is deceitful above all else, it often feels a certain way that is not true basically. So therefore it is important to check the truth objectively. How do we know the truth, we look at evidence, we test things out, we perform checks and we make a conclusion. My challenge today is have we done that with our very lives? Have we tested what is going to happen to us when we die? Have we tested who Jesus is?
For years I shrugged it off, thinking in my heart that when it came to out, if there was a God I was pretty good and he wouldn't punish me in anyway. The bible claims something different, it says God loves us so much that he is going to do something about every wrong thing we ever did and everybody else did. We have a choice to make, will you investigate that choice?
